7 Wonders: Duel
A two-player game, 7 Wonders: Duel is the tale of two civilisations. It is a civilisation building game, and the players have to collect resources, build buildings, invest in research, and of course, go to war with your opponents. Combining all the elements of the usual civilisation building genre 7 Wonders: Duel provides an intense experience with players going through three ages as the stakes get higher. The fact that it is for two players only adds to the zest.
There are three ways to win the game: military might, scientific superiority, and having the highest points. This allows players to develop different strategies each time and throw off opponents, providing a decent re-playability factor. This is a card-based game and has proved to be immensely popular despite its player limitations. The play time is also quite short at 30 minutes. Designed by Antoine Bauza and Bruno Cathala 7 Wonders: Duel is however, a very well thought-out and well-developed game. The illustrations created by Miguel Coimbra is excellent and gives a strong feel of the theme. The artwork is quite detailed and a pleasure to behold.
7 Wonders: Duel is an improvement over 7 Wonders, which was just as popular. This game was published by Repos Production in 2015. Since then, a lot of awards and honours have gone to its name. These include the Golden Geek Awards in the Best 2-player Board Game and Best Card Game categories. The game also won the Tric Trac d’Or and International Gamers Award for General Strategy 2-player games.
The game provides quick entertainment for most people, whether they are fans of 7 Wonders or not. 7 Wonders: Duel can be used as a filler game because of its short duration, but many gamers would also love playing this as a wholesome game because of its well-developed strategy and detailed scenarios.
