Hotel was a game released in 1974 by Esdevium Games. It was a real-estate game in which the players build resorts and hotels, and try to outdo their competitors. Based on this game, Hotel Tycoon was conceived and released in 1986. The game has stood the test of time and is still popular in 2017. Very like Monopoly, Hotel Tycoon is all about building a capitalist paradise in which one player wins everything, leaving the others bankrupt.
Hotel Tycoon is a 2-4 player game and the gameplay can last for around 1.5 hours. The movement is decided by the roll of dice. If you land on another player’s hotel, you will have to pay rent. The more luxurious the hotel, the more you will have to pay. You can also build extensions to hotels, purchase new entrances, etc. The game consists of a game board, 30 buildings, 8 gardens, 8 title deeds, 30 entrances. 4 airplanes. 2 dice, and money.
The initial setup of the game takes a while, but it can be great fun. Since it is a three-dimensional game, all the hotels and buildings have to be set up. The board ends up looking quite attractive, akin to a fairyland, by the time you are done with the setup and are ready for the game. Hotel Tycoon can be a great game for children, giving them their first dose of big business. Adults too can enjoy the game, though experienced gamers with a more strategic bent of mind might not find this challenging. However, it is a great game to relax.
An excellent family game, Hotel Tycoon is one of those games you want to play again and again when you want to just sit back and relax with friends or family. Any Monopoly fan would enjoy this, so pick it up today and get started with building your hotel empire!
