The Resistance: Avalon
Do you love the myth of King Arthur? Well, who doesn’t? No doubt there are many shows, movies, books, and games that are based on this epic. The world of King Arthur gives a lot of scope for a board game, and The Resistance: Avalon has made full use of the opportunities offered to it.
In this game, the good and evil forces are in a battle to control civilisation. Arthur is the leader of the good side, while Mordred represents the evil side. There are many warriors pretending to fight for Arthur but secretly they are Mordred’s minions. Merlin knows who these infiltrators are but he cannot name them outright. In the tradition of Werewolf and The Resistance, The Resistance: Avalon has a similar theme of finding the spy in the midst of the good side.
The Resistance: Avalon was designed by Don Eskeridge and came out in 2012. It was published by Indie Boards & Cards. The game became wildly popular because of its popular medieval theme. It even won the Guldbrikken Special Jury Prize in 2013, and was nominated for the Golden Geek Best Party Board Game in the same year.
The cards are beautifully designed and there is a different card for each voting phase as well as a lot of character cards. The quality of the material is excellent and will ensure the survival of the game for a long time. For the price quoted, it is a great product.
The gameplay can go on from 15 to 30 minutes and the game can be played by 5 to 10 players. It is a great game that can be used as a filler game or a warm-up game for a bigger gaming event. And what’s more, the game is fun for all ages and is also suitable for family entertainment. So if you are into the Arthur and Merlin myths, do give this game a chance!
